WELCOME

Creative Housing is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing safe, accessible and affordable housing to individuals with disabilities in the Columbus metropolitan area.

Since 1992, Creative Housing has earned national recognition in involving people with disabilities in the development of a wide range of housing options from single family homes and duplexes to small apartment buildings.

More recently, Creative Housing has begun to modify homes for accessibility for people with disabilities and also the elderly. Our website provides up to date information on the wide range of housing and renovation programs that make up the Creative Housing network.

HOUSING ELIGIBILITY
The housing options offered through Creative Housing are available for individuals with developmental disabilities who are served by the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities (FCBDD). Individuals served by FCBDD should contact their service coordinator regarding housing waiting list information.

Questions regarding service eligibility can be answered at the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities Intake Department (614-464-2743). Additional information can be found on the Board’s web site www.fcbdd.org.

WHATS NEW
Creative Housing Awarded Sixth HUD Grant for Accessible Apartments
Creative Housing has been selected for a HUD grant of $977, 800 for the construction of accessible apartments. This marks the sixth year in a row that Creative Housing has received funding from the highly competitive HUD 811 Program (Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities) bringing the six year total in committed federal funds to approximately six million dollars.

Creative Housing has been working in conjunction with the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities in a multi-year plan to develop fully accessible apartments on scattered sites throughout Franklin County. This year’s grant will be used to build apartments in the Buckeye Parkway area in Grove City Ohio on a site currently under development by Creative Housing. The site provides many urban amenities with readily accessible stores and restaurants in addition to recreational and employment opportunities. The project is slated for completion in spring of 2012.
